Kefalonia Weddings was started by Donna who, as an English woman married to a Kefalonian and resident here since 1988, is uniquely qualified to help you plan your perfect Greek wedding in Kefalonia.
Donna says:
I trained as a graphic designer, sign-writer and dry transfer specialist at two design studios in London and spent three enjoyable years working in the Wella in–house design studio. But then my life suddenly changed direction when I was accepted as a Thomson Holiday Representative.
After completing a strict training course I was sent to the Greek island of Kefalonia – which, at the time, I’d never heard of! Back then, in 1987, the airport was nothing more than a runway and a shack and you definitely knew you were in Greece!
As the island has only seasonal work I went off to Spain for the winter months where I was awarded “Thomson Rep of the Year” but then it was back to Kefalonia again for the following summer. Here I met my Greek husband–to–be, Panayiotis, and after a couple of years together we set the date for our wedding. We were married in the town hall by the mayor with our friends and just a few family members as it was Christmas time and difficult to get here from the UK.
After working as a “rep” for a while longer, I became a tour guide, making sure everyone got the full benefit of Kefalonia’s beauty, as well as that of her sister islands of Ithaca and Lefkas. After the birth of our first daughter (who’s now 15!) I became a transfer rep, assisting passengers on their arrival and departure at the airport. Two more children then came along and I’ve spent the last four years working at the airport monitoring the aircraft turnarounds – making sure everything happens when it should happen without having any delays.
But now after all my experiences of living and working in Greece, I feel it’s time to help others love the island and each other with a beautiful wedding and honeymoon on Kefalonia.
Thank you for visiting our site and even if you choose not to book with us, we hope you’ll still come to the island and not miss out on all it’s uniqueness. And of course, if you are planning your wedding, we wish you health and happiness in your new life!
