All Greek civil weddings take place on Monday to Friday, 
between the hours of 11AM and 2PM. Legally, you are required to be “resident” on the island for at least eight days (inclusive of weekends and the arrival day) prior to the wedding. The ceremony is a short, informal service lasting about ten minutes, and will be read in Greek and translated into English. We arrange weddings all over Kefalonia and Ithaca, but usually, for your convenience, we will use the nearest town hall to your accommodation. If this is too small for your group, an alternative building, authorised by the local council committee, will be used.
Regardless of the claims by some companies that you can get married anywhere you choose, this is simply not legal at the moment, but if the law changes, we at Kefalonia Weddings will notify you immediately.
Photographs will be taken during the ceremony, which takes about 15 minutes, and afterwards more photographs of your choice. If you are booking your reception with Kefalonia Weddings, we will arrange for our photographer to take pictures of the cutting of the cake and a champagne toast. A selection of photographs will be printed in a stylish album for you to take home, plus in addition to this, you will receive a CD of all the pictures taken for further prints.
In addition to our standard photography package, we are now pleased to offer additional wedding albums – which are superb gifts for parents and/or guests. If you would like our photographer to take extra pictures: maybe of the bride getting ready or the couple at different venues, we will be delighted to arrange it for you.
We can also arrange religious weddings - both Catholic and Greek Orthodox. Catholic wedding services are conducted in The Church of Saint Nicholas and Orthodox weddings at Saint Spiridonas Orthodox Church. Both of these churches are in Argostoli.
Cruise Ship Wedding Plans are available for ships coming into Argostoli harbour.

A small wedding cake is included with each of the plans. You may select either a circular or a heart-shaped design, with colour and decoration of your choice. We can also arrange for a fresh posy, or a bride and groom on top - just let us know!

After all the excitement it’s a good idea to go back to your accommodation to relax and change ready for a reception meal in the evening.
Several tavernas have been selected and have offered to arrange wedding receptions with a choice of menus – depending on how many in your party and the amount you wish to spend. More details can be found here.
We can also offer you the extra special alternative choice of a traditional Greek-style wedding reception in ‘The Aloni’ (a traditional old threshing floor) that has been renovated by hand using the original stones. The food will be decided on after booking and a Greek band will entertain you throughout the reception.
If you want to make your wedding even more Greek, wedding dresses can be hired locally on arrival. Prices will depend on style, but we can give you an approximate cost in advance.
One thing that you should definitely consider, is buying your wedding rings in Kefalonia once you have arrived. Greek gold is a very high quality 14 carat and we are working with a very highly respected local jeweller. Greek wedding rings are made personal by each of you having your new partner’s name and the date of the wedding engraved inside. That way there is no excuse for either of you forgetting your anniversary!
Your wedding should be a very special occasion: don’t let the stress and worries of the organisation spoil it for you. Let us do the worrying while you just relax, enjoy yourself, and be spoilt for a little while. Unwind with a trip to the hairdressers, get pampered with a cleansing facial and a makeup session, a manicure and/or pedicure and generally feel calm, refreshed and ready for your big day.
